David R Anderson (1884 - 1976)

Scottish artist David R. Anderson (1884-1976) trained at Glasgow School of Art where he became fascinated by the scenery around Fife. In his twenties Anderson moved to Paris in order to pursue his artistic career. In Paris he met some of the famous painters active at that time including Henri Rousseau, Picasso, Cezanne and Degas. This pivotal experience is realised in Anderson's later work and vivid palette, typical of the post-impressionist movement. Upon his return to the UK he became a member of the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour and Royal Society of Portrait Painters.
